AutoCAD 101: Drawing and Editing Tools

Drawing and Modification Tools is the second course in our 101 course series and begins to teach users how to draw shapes and use modification commands to create required geometry in AutoCAD.  Prerequisites: Completion of AutoCAD 101: Getting Started with AutoCAD.

In this course, you’ll learn how to use precision tools to pick exact points on geometry with Object Snaps, draw lines with specific angles using Polar Tracking, and combine those tools to use Polar Snap and Object Snap Tracking for exact distance drawing.

In this course you’ll learn how to use selection tools to effectively capture objects in a selection set. Additionally, you’ll learn how to use tools like Move, Copy, Rotate, Scale, and Mirror to make changes to existing geometry. LEARNING OBJECTIVES On completion of this course, users will be able to do the following: - Select objects in the drawing. - Move, Copy, and/or Rotate objects in the drawing.

Use advanced object types to create complex geometry. The user will learn about 2D polylines, polygons and ellipses and how to modify the geometry. Draw with Polylines. Edit Polylines. Draw Polygons. Draw Ellipses.

Learn how to use object properties to extract information. Includes: Quick Properties, Properties palette, Quick select and measure tools to find information about and modify geometry. LEARNING OBJECTIVES: - Use Quick Select. - Use Properties Palette. - Filter Object Properties. - Measure Tools.

On completion of this course, you will be able to do the following: Create a simple block, Block insertion methods, Modify Dynamic Blocks, Use Related Block Palettes. Become Proficient at Using Blocks in AutoCAD by utilizing these tools: Insert Block Command, Create Blocks, Dynamic Blocks, Tool Palettes, Block Palettes, Design Center Palette, Ribbon command interface, and more.

Learn to use additional advanced editing tools and commands. The user will learn about Trim, Extend, Break, Stretch, Fillet, Chamfer, Offset and Array tools to modify geometry. On completion of this course, users will be able to do the following: Remove, extend or separate geometry, Lengthen geometry, Add rounded and beveled edges, Evenly space lines and polylines, Create geometry in rectangular, polar and path patterns.

Learn about Model Space and Paper Space and switching between them, creating, modifying and setting the scale to viewports. On completion of this course, You will be able to do the following: - Remove, extend or separate geometry. - Lengthen geometry. - Add rounded and beveled edges. - Evenly space lines and polylines. - Create geometry in rectangular, polar and path patterns.

Learn about annotative and non-annotative styles, editing and formatting text in AutoCAD. On completion of this course, users will be able to do the following: Single Line Text, Multiline Text, Edit Multiline Text, and Format Multiline Text

In this course you’ll learn how to print your drawing. The user will learn about Model Space and Paper Space printing, previewing a drawing before printing and options for setting up to print. On completion of this course, users will be able to do the following:  Print/Plot from Model Space.  Print/Plot from Paper Space.  Preview Drawing before Printing.  Create PDF, DWF or Printed Drawing.  Select Options for Printing.

In this course you’ll learn how to add hatches in your drawing. The user will learn about how to insert different types of hatches and then modifying the hatches.

In this course you’ll learn how to add dimensions in your drawing. The user will learn about how to insert linear, aligned, angular and radial dimensions and then modifying and editing the dimensions.

In this course you’ll learn about additional tools that will allow a user to be more efficient in AutoCAD. The user will learn about how to create a workspace, customize the ribbon and palettes, create, select and control the visibility of objects, working with multiple drawings, advance grip commands and additional layer tools.

In this course you’ll learn about accuracy tools in AutoCAD. The user will learn about absolute coordinates, relative coordinates, construction lines and reference points.

Learn about block tools in AutoCAD such as creating blocks, editing blocks, creating block tool palettes and removing unused items from a drawing. On completion of this course, users will be able to do the following: Create Blocks, Edit Existing Blocks, Create a Block Tool Palette, Purge a Drawing.
